Notes From the Author

I hope to use this blog as a diary of sorts, in order to document my quest of perfecting my skills. Areas that I am particularly fond of include: photography, gardening, cooking - baking -canning, painting - sketching and of course writing. Like so many others, the word 'perfection' haunts me. I strive to reach it daily not truly knowing what it is or how to achieve it. Yet, I won't settle for less. Here is my blog showing my struggles and my hopeful successes. I don't need to be perfect but I must try to ascertain it.

Spring Equals Crocuses

Nothing announces the arrival of spring like those first little bloomers, the crocus. Mine have been blooming since the end of March around the 27th and are still holding to their claim on my garden. I have enjoyed watching the few bulbs I planted a couple of years ago spread and naturalize in my perennial bed. They bring me so much enjoyment that I realize I need to add to my collection especially since mine lack any yellow varieties.

Also today as I walk about my garden I notice that my hyacinths are beginning to open. Their sweet scent perfumed that air as I went about with so easy clean up chores. In the future I'd also like to add more, especially the grape hyacinths.

This blog is an entry for my garden journal. Garden journals are a great way not only to keep track of dates and plant varieties but also future plans.

One final observation, I noticed that my magnolia bush not only is filled with fuzzy bud but two of the buds are beginning to open and reveal the deep pink Flowers curled within. I purchased the bush two years ago but this will be the first time it blooms. I wanted a tree but wasn't ready to make the financial commitment but now with the bush being to lovely I may had to look into adding a tree.
